For Barenbrug Holding, we are looking for an IT Operations virtuoso. Do you get excited by the job description as shown below, and are you convinced that your abilities match with what we are looking for, please contact us!

What does a working day as Project Coordinator IT Operations look like

  • When you arrive at the office, you check whether there have been any global problems with Barenbrug’s IT infrastructure. Most of the problems have probably already been solved by our service provider, but you are well informed about what is going on and check for which issues you want to find a structural solution for in the future.
  • First project consultation of the day; Branch UK is migrating some existing applications from the local network to the Barenbrug IT domain. You dive into the details to determine how best to integrate these applications into Azure, (will it be a VM or a Hypervisor). You coordinate the required actions with your UK IT colleague and an external local IT supplier.
  • Then the weekly progress call with our IT service provider. This external supplier ensures that the Barenbrug IT landscape is running and improving globally. You go through the SLAs in terms of response times, open issues and projects. You then validate the chosen Azure backup solution for a specific application to be added to the IT landscape.
  • Just before lunch, you have some time to work on a project to overhaul the current IT security set-up. You have already discussed this briefly with the team’s IT architect.
  • After lunch, you work out a procedure for dealing with requests for new functionality in our IT landscape. The relatively small IT organisation at Barenbrug is growing and a better way of recording such requests is needed.
  • You get a call from your IT colleague in Argentina; the power has gone out and our IT service provider has neatly reset everything. The question is whether another redundant system needs to be set up for the local IT solution. You do a quick risk assessment and indicate that it is worth investigating, given the increasing number of power outages. You need to start turning this unplanned project intake into an initiative. This means fine-tuning when this should be implemented and what the investments will be.
  • France has just emailed you and wants to buy 5 new laptops. They ask you what the procedure is. You refer them to our internal procedures, which you have recently revised and published on SharePoint.
  • You join the team call with your colleague who is working on transferring files for New Zealand to the Barenbrug IT environment. It turns out they that are having problems with the action You go through the plan with him and then zoom in on some operational details. You then pick up another open action together to look at the network setup and configuration of the new Meraki hardware that is required for the project to succeed.
  • The final action of the day is to finalise the financial details of the project plan you are developing. You make a final contact with the financial controller and call your manager to fine-tune it.
