Barenbrug Holland visited 'Paleis het Loo' with 'de Zonnebloem'
Helping with Hands and the De Zonnebloem Foundation treated senior residents of Oosterhout, Slijk-Ewijk, and Elst to a wonderful day out at Paleis Het Loo in Apeldoorn on 16th June 2026. Twelve colleagues of Barenbrug Holland joined the trip that day as volunteers, providing support and companionship to the participants.
The project
The day started with lively conversations on the bus, followed by a delicious lunch in the former stables of Paleis Het Loo. After getting to know each other a little better, everyone set off in pairs, accompanied by wheelchair users where needed.
Using the various elevators, we explored the palace together, visited several exhibitions, went up to the rooftop, and, when time allowed, wandered through the stunning palace gardens.
Once again, our colleagues from Barenbrug proved to be an indispensable part of this sun-filled day. They were not only helping hands pushing wheelchairs, but also caring, attentive, and warm-hearted companions. This wonderful compliment from De Zonnebloem was truly well deserved!
About de Zonnebloem
‘de Zonnebloem’ is a Dutch volunteer Association who is committed to people with physical limitation due to illness, age or handicap. These people live on their own, but their world is smaller and they can be lonely more often. De Zonnebloem organizes holidays, days out; for example museum visits, but also home visits from one of their many volunteers.
